Welcome to the Chic’s Beach Civic League Website! We welcome you to visit our site frequently to see updated news and information about our neighborhood.
Please note that members of the Civic League voted to increase dues in 2018 from $8 to $10 Individual. Household memberships are still $15. Memberships are based on the calendar year, so if you were a member in 2018 and you haven’t renewed since January 1, you are no longer an active member.
Inactive Members: We want you back! Please take a look at the top right corner of this page and click “New Membership” to reactivate. Don’t miss out on our summer cookout, annual Holiday party, the privilege to vote on important matters, newsletters, and palpable camaraderie during meetings and events. This is YOUR neighborhood…Don’t be a bystander!
We hope to see you at our next meeting!

The civic league does not “decide” on zoning or “let” people build giant houses. It is a community-centric volunteer group of over 300 chic’s beach residents, property owners and business owners who have committed to being engaged, informed, and committed to their neighborhood. This is quite a statement one makes and also a bit of work sometimes. Often times it means -meeting on a Saturday morning to pick up trash -keeping an eye out for your neighbors -calling emergency help and working with service men and women when there is a problem -staying on top of decisions made at a local government level that may have an impact on our community -preserving our quality of life by ensuring all neighbors feel welcome, safe, and unthreatened in their own homes -being forward minded knowing our children will be here longer than we will and taking responsibility to protect their future I choose to serve my community by being a member of the civic league and do not assume that everyone has what it takes to stay informed and engaged. Luckily hundreds of other neighbors are committed with me, which allows others to sit by, post misinformation on social media, and complain without any time investment on their part.
If this developer gets the right to rezone, then others will follow suit. This has gone too far and has to stop.
Maybe they can take 2 Apts and turn it into 1 luxury apt, increase the rent, reduce parking spaces for beautification. Maybe turn the tennis court into club house. This has worked for other communities as a win win for everyone. Currently, blue lights are in there all the time.
Where has everyone been? Years ago when 4500-4600 blocks of Guam, Lee, Coronet homes were sold to "developers" not once did OUR Chesapeake Beach Civic League say one word about the duplexes being built! If not for some of us all trees would be gone, all buildings would have the SAME color siding !!!! This is a local kind of neighborhood where folks come home to rest, eat in or out and GO TO WORK or the Basses in the morning. Let cars in and out, stop for school buses, be a good neighbor! In March our Civic League voted on this issue, did 25 or 30 league members decide for the whole area, before or after they had a beverage at Commonwealth? How many of us live in "new" homes built in the last ten years? Should we have stopped your home from being built?
I'm near by in Lakeview Shores and agree this is a terrible idea. Traffic is already horrible and I'm so sick of condo's going up everywhere.
Good Luck Wally. I hope ya'll can stop this overcrowding. Has certainly stopped me from moving back to where I was born and raised.
I dissent. This will increase local property value and repurpose the existing property to accommodate a deserving portion of the population... as for the intersection, the city is LONG overdue to improve that and should have never let the existing arrangement be constructed to begin with. It’s absurd and dysfunctional as it stands. Limiting the property owner and damaging the surrounding property owners by forcing the status quo to remain is silly and counter productive... fact is the area is high density and can stand improvement in that direction...
Traffic on pleasure house road is already a nightmare.
Is it possible to list the meeting notes with the property managers from the March meeting? Highlights: - rent will go up from $250-500 per month. - 1.2 spaces of parking per property. - plan to knock down 56 and build 216. - rent differential is going to be about 59%.
This is the opposite of neighborhood preservation
This is one of the effects of allowing all those three story condos to be built in the middle of single family homes. Shame.
Where exactly is the Public Hearing taking place? Thank you.
This is ridiculous! What are they thinking 🤔 Wel obviously they aren’t , except for $$$$$$ ! But not the community ! The cross roads there are crazy as it is already! What’s next? An overpass 🥺😳🤪🤯 I sincerely 🙏🏻 that this does not come about !!!
I'll be there to vote Yes. Y'all seriously have no clue what you're talking about. The reality is you didn't care when they were building your house or condo. But now that you own you want play preservationist. They're talking about getting rid of old ass crappy apartments and putting up new apartments that will meet the demand for affordable housing within vicinity of several military installations. Some of y'all are just greedy and selfish.... Grow up
I agree with you Wally.
No no no😡
No no no
I live here and already can’t park near my apartment. They have actually taken certain parking slots and made them reserved, that is if you pay 25 a month to park your own dam car in front of you own apartment
Vote yes because you guys let all the rich pricks build giant houses and you don’t say a word maybe it’ll bring down home prices in the area
